What does Tecco mean?

Tecco stands for tech and eco. Our skincare formulations are created using biotechnology (science) and natural ingredients (from Earth). Tecco is vegan and cruelty-free.

What's “clean” skincare?

The word "clean" is not codified. We understand "clean" as skincare formulas that contain both natural and/or synthetic non-toxic ingredients. Technically, Tecco meets the skincare industry's "clean beauty" standards, but our intension is not to insinuate other brands are "dirty" or "bad" for you. We simply have a different mission!

At Tecco, we don't use artificial fragrances or dyes in our facial care. Our goal is to give people everything their skin needs and nothing it doesn't — just functional, effective skincare products in fun, enjoyable packaging!

We believe in science (duh)! Learn about how we prioritize biotechnology below.

What's Biotechnology?

Biotechnology is the science of using living organisms (in our case, plants & algae) to make products. Medical and agricultural experts have been using biotechnology for years — and now it's finally having its moment in the beauty industry.

Believe it or not, using biotechnology is more sustainable than sourcing natural ingredients straight from the Earth. How? Because when you create these ingredients in a lab setting, it uses less energy and resources. And because it's produced in a more controlled environment, it's free of harmful toxins and pesticides. Thanks to biotechnology, we're able to deliver better, greener, and more effective products for you and the planet.

What does it mean to be “filler-free”?

Fillers decrease the potency of products and can sometimes irritate sensitive skin. Traditionally, diluting products with cheap, artificial fillers increases profit margins so companies can make more money.

Here's a list of ingredients that work for some but aren't for us:

  • silicone: dimethicone, cyclomethicone, cyclopentasiloxane
  • parabens
  • alcohols that could make sensitive skin more dry: denaturated alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, SD alcohol, ethanol, ethyl alcohol, methanol, benzyl alcohol
  • artificial fragrances
  • essential oils
  • synthetic dyes
  • mica (sometimes sourced from companies with unethical working conditions, sometimes sourced from illegal mines, can irritate sensitive skin)
  • palm oil (wreaks havoc on the environment, leads to rainforest deforestation, habitat degradation)
